One of the objectives of the Long Island Chapter is to promote a congenial and harmonious relationship with the D.A.R. Chapters in Nassau and Suffolk Counties in New York State for the betterment of both organizations.
As D.A.R. members recruit new D.A.R. members and ask about male relatives who could join S.A.R. and bring us new S.A.R. members, we will recommend that National S.A.R. reward them with the appropriate medal [i.e., Medal of Appreciation, Martha Washington Medal, and the Daughters of Liberty Medal]
Every year our National Society awards the D.A.R./S.A.R. award to the D.A.R. state society that recruits the most members for S.A.R. This is a $500 award to the D.A.R. state society.
Our D.A.R. Liaison Chairman Edward A. Burns will maintain a record of the D.A.R. members who assist us in obtaining new members into the Long Island Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. We encourage them to do so because we reward their efforts by presenting them with S.A.R. medals based on their level of participation.
When a D.A.R. member assists our D.A.R. Liaison Chairman in the process, there is a D.A.R. Finder Form click here that must accompany the completed S.A.R. worksheet application click here package when it is submitted to our D.A.R. Liaison Chairman.
